The Marine Robotics Laboratory at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), under the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, works on marine robotics, autonomous surface and underwater vehicles, and experimental test infrastructure. Since 2015, the lab has been developing projects in autonomous navigation, control systems, and sensing technologies, with 50+ projects, 30+ peer-reviewed publications, and extensive experimental testing experience in the field.
ITU Marine Robotics Lab contributes to the marine robotics ecosystem through both academic publication and industry collaboration. Work on underwater vehicles (AUV/ROV), autonomous surface vehicles (ASV), and hybrid systems is supported by testing perception, planning, and control algorithms in real sea conditions. The lab's experimental facilities and test basin allow projects to be validated in the field.
Research areas include autonomous navigation, sensor fusion, real-time decision making, and safe operation of unmanned marine systems. Marine Robotics Laboratory continues to strengthen ITU's position in maritime and robotics through national and international projects.
